Male Rhinoplasty Is Growing More Common Because Of Today's Society

Upon the mention of plastic surgery procedures, one generally thinks about females, who either undergo liposuction, get a face-lift or two, or even have their breasts enlarged. However, cosmetic surgery has also grown to be popular for men, who get treatments done for either aesthetic or practical reasons. One particular example is male rhinoplasty.

The nose area is essentially the centerpiece of a human's face, whether they are female or male. And any deformity, or even asymmetry, is enough to modify one's look. And there are many possible causes for nose deformities, such as birth defects, or injuries. In addition there are other negative physical outcomes of having a misshapen nose, such as difficulty in breathing, that will require medical attention. Male rhinoplasty surgery can fix every one of these.

There is not much dissimilarity between male and female rhinoplasty, aside from the idea that certain kinds of aesthetic changes are specific to each gender. Both procedures share the very same principles and methods, whether it is done as a cosmetic or practical treatment.

Rhinoplasty for men can be done in two ways. The procedure can either be a closed process, or an open procedure. Closed rhinoplasty demands incisions made inside the nose, which hides the scars, and at the same time, allows the nose to heal much faster. Open rhinoplasty has cuts inside, in addition to an extra one outside, across the skin separating the two nostrils.

Both methods involve the shaping of cartilage material and bone into whatever shape is desired, or required, by the patient. Injured noses might need realignment, and deformed noses might need complete reshaping. Men will either want slimmer, broader, less pronounced, or more visible noses. It all depends on the preference, or the needs of the patient. Once the alterations are complete, cuts are sutured and the patient's recovery begins.

Recovery needs, at minimum, one to two weeks of rest time. In this time, bruising and light bleeding can occur, and some more extensive surgeries can cause swelling and minor pain. Certain medicines will have to be managed or avoided, and physical activity must be reduced, or if possible, avoided completely. Individuals are also recommended to diligently follow the surgeon's instructions, especially when it comes to taking the prescribed medication.

Sometimes, however, complications can happen, resulting in the necessity of a revision, or a secondary nose job. But today's technology and techniques have improved the chances that there will be no reason for any revisions whatsoever.
